Come join a new team reporting to the Chief Data Engineering Officer at National Bank whose main mission is to improve the wellbeing of its clients by using their data securely to offer them customized advice and solutions. 

As Technical Lead of the Data Engineering practice, you will participate in the development and growth of this new practice within the Bank. In this role, you will report to the Data Engineering Practice Manager and you will implement the principles, norms, standards and best practices that will guarantee the availability and optimal use of the data within the organization. In this capacity, you will collaborate with IT partners to ensure implementation and continued alignment with these principles.

Your main responsibilities and challenges will be to:

• Define and support the technological orientations of the practice in data engineering, vision and strategy.
• Design standard procedures for an exemplary service in data engineering.
• Contribute to the establishment of a clear roadmap to achieve the vision and maturity in data engineering.
• Develop strong processes while ensuring a robust control environment and ensure documentation of quality assurance.
• Ensure the alignment of the technological vision of the practice with the IT architecture and the targets and principles of software engineering (eg 12 DevOps principles).
• Work in close collaboration with the IT Architecture and Data Architecture teams to validate the choices / methods / support for the implementation of data pipelines.
• Contribute to the design of key performance indicators that the company will use for data pipelines.
• Support the practice leader in building a strong motivated team of data engineers: acquire, recognize, cultivate and grow talent.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 10 years of relevant experience OR a master's degree in a related field and 8 years of relevant experience
  • Attitude focused on the customer experience, coupled with a perfect understanding of business needs and the ability to find a solution to meet those needs
  • Ability to popularize complex data and technologies so that clients can benefit from them and make decisions
  • Experience in coordinating a team of practitioners, highly skilled data professionals
  • Experience in recruiting and training a data engineer
  • Datahub framework experience: Raw -> Curated -> Consumption - Strong experience in developing ingestion scripts and massive data flow
  • Experience in the production and maintenance of software projects, and more particularly with regard to the big data ecosystem
  • Experience in “Distributed cluster-computing” (Spark, Databricks, Beam…)
  • Experience with streaming applications and application program interfaces (APIs)
  • Strong experience and understanding of data modeling techniques
  • Analytical spirit, rigor, creativity and dynamism
  • Strong capacity for influence and management of stakeholders
  • Bilingualism (spoken / written) French and English
