Senior Manager Strategy and Analysis

A career in the Personal Investing sector at National Bank means working in partnership with the distribution sectors to help direct business strategies for the investment portfolio and ensure client growth and engagement, as well as market share expansion. This sector, together with the Client Experience, Operations and IT teams, is also responsible for measuring the performance of investment processes and project prioritization, the investment advisory approach and financial planning to ensure that we exceed our clients’ expectations.

Your role:

Support VP, Investment Strategy chain in drafting and updating our 2-3-year strategy 

• Leverage insights from analysis to optimize strategy as we move forward, including understanding of our own client base and prospective clients  
• Align on financial targets and budgets for the value chain, to provide a sand box for initiatives 

Define and prioritize the backlog of the initiatives needed to reach our targets and deliver on our strategy 

• Align on what we need to continue, start or stop from our initiative list based on value creation for client / advisor, strategy, budget, and capacity 
• Track the delivery of our initiative portfolio, with clear ownership accountability, and ensure that status/value is properly communicated 
• Implement a problem-solving approach to ensure any roadblocks are being dealt with and decisions are made in a timely manner 
• Build, deep dive, challenge, and present business cases 

Support our sales leaders to reach their targets 

• Create a feedback loop with sales channels (e.g., Hybrid model, FP) within our backlog to ensure the voice of the customer is being heard 
• Based on capacity, support and ensure their strategy is aligned to the overall value chain strategy (e.g., value proposition, pricing, etc.) 

Drive synergies with other value chains / LOBs to deliver more value for our clients

• Ensure proper representation of the investment value chain within the retail sector and wealth management  
• Ensure we are driving value to our bank clients by creating opportunities with other businesses across in the organisation (including wealth management)
• Identify opportunities and work with external FinTechs to accelerate growth /reduce costs 

Required skills:

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in STEM preferred (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and at least 10 years of experience including 4-5 years of experience in a strategy consulting function internal or external.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization
• Comfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in French and English

Preferred skills:

• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear takeaways and recommendations using both qualitative and quantitative methods
• Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis
