Joining the Data Engineering team at National Bank means contributing to its transformation and having a direct impact on clients. As a Senior Data Engineering Analyst, you’ll work on innovative projects analyzing and structuring data in order to meet the various needs of the Credit Analytics teams, becoming an essential link in value creation and client impact at the Bank.

Your role

  • Help design and develop structured and unstructured data acquisition solutions
  • Support the implementation of data environments for BI and AI analysis and advanced analytics
  • Develop and test data ingestion processes
  • Generate, reconcile and control data and the related quality indicators
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in plain language for users of analytics platforms
  • Work in an agile/iterative work environment

This position reports to the Senior Manager of the Data Risk team, which is in the Bank’s Risk Management sector, specifically in credit risk analytics and climate risk. You’ll be part of a dynamic, agile team where collaboration is an important value.


Required skills

  • A completed bachelor’s degree in a related area of activity plus five years’ relevant experience, or a completed master’s degree plus three years' relevant experience
  • Experience in data manipulation, analysis and prototyping
  • Knowledge of one or more data manipulation languages: SAS, SQL, Python, Spark, R
  • Highly independent, innovative and disciplined, with good leadership skills
  • Strong ability to learn and adapt
  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Very strong communication skills and the ability to explain concepts in plain language
  • Functionally bilingual, spoken and written (English and French), as you will deal with partners (clients, service providers, consultants) across Canada

Preferred skills

  • Experience in risk management (credit, market, operational, etc.), an asset
  • Knowledge of the Agile approach (Scrum), an asset
  • Proactive and diligent
  • Strong collaborative spirit
  • Solid time and priority management skills.
