The Insurance Accounting team is looking for a Senior Analyst to join the IFRS 17 project team to support them in implementing this new accounting standard. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Insurance Accounting, you will interact with various members from the accounting team to provide your accounting expertise regarding the implementation of the new standard.

Your role

• Actively participate in the implementation of IFRS 17, which requires extensive financial and accounting expertise
• Take part in implementing statutory financial statements in the IFRS 17 format
• Act as a resource person for management and the IFRS 17 project team
• Participate in committees and workshops
• Orient the Bank’s strategic decisions by providing analyses and recommendations that have a material impact on the quality of decisions made by management
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and operational efficiency

More specifically you’ll be required to:

• Act as an expert accountant within the IFRS 17 project team
• Analyze, interpret and understand the requirements of IFRS 17
• Help document, optimize and implement new processes for producing financial information in order to meet IFRS 17 requirements
• Actively collaborate with stakeholders from various groups (IT, Actuaries, Accounting and Operations)
• Work closely with the two accounting senior analysts assigned to the IFRS 17 project in order to help the project team implement the new accounting standard, which involves the production of monthly financial statements and the documentation of processes

The team works 100% remotely, with some in-person meetings to develop partnership within the team. Skills required

• Hold the CPA professional designation
• Very strong computer application skills (Excel)
• Good knowledge of IFRS
• Very good interpersonal skills and ability to adapt
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills
• Sense of initiative, commitment and leadership
• Excellent communication skills in French (spoken/written)
• Ambassador of the Bank’s cultural values: agility, partnership and empowerment

Preferred skills

• Knowledge of SAP
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and IFRS 17
• Experience in internal and external audit
