This position will report to the Financial Statements Manager.

National Bank’s Mutual Fund Accounting sector is responsible for calculating mutual fund unit prices, producing financial statements, and preparing tax returns. Come join our team of analysts who are responsible for producing financial statements and preparing tax returns for trusts. The Senior Analyst is responsible for representing the sector in dealings with internal partners. You will take a critical look at our processes and adopt a solution-oriented approach. You will also use your leadership skills to help the team meet its objectives.

Your role :

  • Collect, compile and verify the accuracy of data needed to produce financial statements
  • Analyze information to define problems and make recommendations
  • Produce complex and diverse financial reports required by various stakeholders or clients
  • Identify stakeholder needs, provide useful information for decision-making and make recommendations to optimize processes and procedures
  • Maintain excellent relationships with internal partners in shared activities
  • Interact with partners and help solve problems

 More specifically, you will:

  • Create financial reports for the trusts and foundations under your responsibility
  • Prepare tax-related documents in accordance with the various accounting/tax regulations
  • Prepare tax returns for trusts and/or their beneficiaries according to the tax elections allowed
  • Reconcile the trust account transactions
  • Prepare the budget for account managers
  • Verify the annual and semi-annual trust fees
  • Communicate with account managers and assistants
  • Carry out projects to improve, simplify and update work procedures

Competencies required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 4 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 2 years of relevant experience OR university certificate/undergraduate diploma from the National Bank University Program and 6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in producing financial statements or preparing tax returns for trusts, an asset
  • Able to work with multiple systems to analyse discrepancies and make recommendations
  • CPA designation or in the process of being obtained, an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of mutual funds, an asset
  • Team spirit and proactiveness
  • Bilingualism, both spoken and written (English and French), an asset
