NBI is an investment fund management firm engaged in the development and distribution of mutual funds, exchange traded funds, investment solutions and services designed to help Canadian investors achieve their financial goals. Our role is to act as the quarterback for savings and investment initiatives across National Bank. In this regard, we are looking for an individual whose mindset revolves around the following:

The objective: To act as a responsible investment expert in the execution of NBI's responsible investment strategy.

Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager, your primary responsibilities will be:

Contribute to the development and execution of NBI's sustainable investment strategy objectives and Wealth Management including:

  • Responsible investment in portfolio management
  • Responsible investment advice
  • Data analysis and reporting on ESG, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate impact.

Make investment recommendations as part of the portfolio manager selection process (OP4+ process) including:

  • Analyze ESG integration within the investment process of the open architecture portfolio managers
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of the Environmental, Social and Governance risks and profiles of portfolios and investment solutions
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
  • Analyze climate risks and conduct stress tests of portfolios and solutions.
  • Analyze portfolio footprints (greenhouse gases, water, waste) for the achievement of the net-zero goal.

Interact with external portfolio managers to identify best practices relevant to NBI

  • Represent NBI internally and externally on various committees.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or in related industry and 5 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in related industry and 3 years of relevant experience
  • CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) completed or in progress
  • Experience in responsible investing, UN Principles of Responsible Investment and climate risk.
  • Excellent knowledge of portfolio management and analysis of ESG portfolio characteristics
  • Experience in strategic project management
  • Ability to communicate to large groups and produce research papers on responsible investment
  • Research writing skills
  • Ability to influence and analyze
  • Bilingualism (spoken/written) in French and English is essential
