The Operations, Cash Management sector is currently looking for an Analyst. The mission of this business line is to manage the Bank's cash position in Canadian dollars and foreign currencies with the Bank of Canada and our correspondent banks.

Reporting to the Senior Director, you will provide professional support to sectors in order to promote their growth according to business objectives and ensure the maintenance and improvement of systems, tools and work processes. You will interpret data to provide information useful for decision making. In addition, you will participate in problem solving as well as the realization of important projects.

Your main challenges:
• Analyze and interpret financial data, explain discrepancies and ensure corrective action is taken
• Communicate proactively with the various business lines and the various partners for financing needs.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with various internal and external stakeholders within the framework of common projects
• Identify and analyze the needs of stakeholders in order to design systems, tools and work processes that meet their needs and facilitate decision-making
• Work with risk teams to review processes and controls that create operational losses
• Control the service offers of each banking correspondent and make recommendations to reduce operational costs
• Maintain a relationship of trust with the Front Office
• Act as a "coach" with your less experienced colleagues
More specifically, you will have to:
• Provide for all income and / or disbursements in order to eliminate their potential impact on the Bank's financing and collateral costs.
• Anticipate daily financing needs in order to inform the forex traders responsible for trading in the markets.
• Follow up on positional adjustments communicated by email from different groups
• Manage the cash flow of the Bank's pension fund (reconciliation of balances, Investigation of discrepancies, Validation of margin calls, etc.)
• Monitoring of different currency accounts
• Hedging of flows in foreign currencies according to the balances with our correspondents
• Balance of positions with arbitrageurs several times a day
• Ensure the smooth running of payment sequencing during the day
• Produce analysis reports required for analysis needs as well as for various stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years' relevant experience OR Master's degree in a related field and three years' relevant experience OR University certificate/undergraduate diploma from the National Bank University Program and eight years' relevant experience
  • Experience in financial analysis and research
  • In-depth knowledge of position monitoring (Cash Management) as well as the payment universe
  • Good understanding of the different intra-day liquidity deadlines
  • Knowledge of the banking network, desirable
  • Knowledge of the clearing and settlement system process, desirable
  • Ability to manage stress well
  • Teamwork with the various partners
  • Bilingualism (spoken / written) French and English, essential
  • Work schedule may vary in order to follow the closing of markets
