Manager Credit Risk Agriculture

As an Agricultural Commercial Credit Director, you will act as the expert in approving agricultural credit.  You will maximize the quality of a commercial loan portfolio in line with the Bank's strategic orientations accross the country. In addition, you will implement strategies to monitor the quality of the loan portfolio in order to ensure integrity and to maximize profitability and business development. 

Your role:

• Independently analyze, authorize or recommend agricultural and agri-food financing applications based on credit policies and procedures as well as National Bank’s risk appetite
• Work in a team to meet short turnaround times at the business line
• Optimize relationships with the various stakeholders and act as an advisor for account managers
• Independently take part in various committees and special mandates
• Adequately follow up on the agricultural loan portfolio to improve quality
• Encourage the continuous rethinking of work methods to optimize processes and systems and present innovative solutions
• You will stand out through your rigour, professional judgment, understanding of different partners’ business realities, takeover of files, leadership and ability to propose solutions

Competencies required:

• Completed bachelor’s degree agronomy or agricultural economics and 6 years of relevant experience, or completed master’s degree in agronomy or agricultural economics, or in a related field, and 4 years of relevant experience
• Experience in agricultural financing and agribusiness
• Experience in portfolio tracking
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in French and in English (for dealing with English-speaking partners outside Quebec

Preferred competencies:

• In Quebec, being a member of the Ordre des agronomes du Québec; desirable
• Excellent knowledge of commercial financial products and services
• Demonstrated leadership for any new implemented credit initiative and/or special mandates
• Ability to make complex decisions in very short times
