The team's mandate is to assume responsibility of the regulatory watch process, including the capture and analysis of new regulations, decisions and various reports and to draft and revise internal policies and standards according to applicable regulations while working in close collaboration with compliance teams supporting Wealth Management business lines. Being a legal advisor in regulatory compliance also means supporting your colleagues and your manager in order to help them answer questions relating to the application of the regulations.

Your main challenges

  • Capture and analyze new Bills and new regulations; to inform business lines of upcoming regulatory changes and support them in the implementation of these new requirements;
  • Ensure governance of the regulatory watch process and coordination with the various compliance teams;
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize various documents (case law, decisions, reports);
  • Draft and review internal policies of the Compliance department according to applicable regulations;
  • Identify and interpret applicable regulatory requirements (securities laws, IIROC dealer member rules);
  • Ensure governance of quarterly and annual reports.

Required Profile

  • Completed Bachelor of Laws degree
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in the securities industry
  • Member of the Québec Bar
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and Conduct Standards Manual (MNC) course, desirable
  • Strong analytical and writing skills (in plain language)
  • Ability to work in a team, communication skills and thoroughness
  • Have good judgment and interest in learning, demonstrate versatility and initiative
  • Bilingualism (spoken / written) French and English, essential
