The National Bank of Canada is looking for candidates to fill several full-time positions with the Data Engineering Analyst Rotation Program. Skilled neuro-distinct candidates will benefit from a recruitment process and customized support and work on innovative projects in advanced analytics fully integrated within the Bank.

Rotation Program 

The Rotation Program seeks to hire data engineering analysts to provide them with work experience and the opportunity to share their knowledge to solve challenges across various lines of business within the Bank. These data experts will spend 6 months in different sectors to then join one of the lines of business. The Rotation Program offers an occasion to learn and apply data engineering across multiple lines of business within the Bank. 

Job Description

The position will provide opportunities to interpret and communicate complex technical concepts to users of analytical platforms and work in big data environments. 

Details about the role:

  • Participate in the design and development of structured and unstructured data solutions
  • Design, execute and operate machine learning and analytics solutions 
  • Collaborate with data scientists and visualization experts to provide them with the correct data. 
  • Work with datasets in a format suitable for analytics, modeling, and business intelligence according to the needs of the business lines
  • Understand and determine the risks and issues related to the chosen technologies 
  • Coach your peers so that they can adapt to the Bank's data environments 

Required qualifications and certifications (Must have):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, with internship or professional experience  
  • Proficiency in at least one programming languages (SQL, Python required*) 
  • Comfortable working with agile content and multidisciplinary teams
  • Bilingual in oral and written form (French and English)

Technical Experience (Must have):

  • Experience in data flow design and development
  • Experience processing big data for data valuation purposes
  • Experience with data visualization tools 
  • Knowledge of algorithms and machine learning 
  • Knowledge of SAS

Desired skills and competencies (Nice to have): 

  • Knowledge of database technologies 
  • Knowledge in SQL, Shell, Python, and JavaScript preferred
  • Knowledge of Spark and Databricks framework is an asset
  • Knowledge of MLlib, sklearn, H2O frameworks is an asset
  • Knowledge of at least one Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) is an asset
