National Bank Financial Markets (“NBF”) is an investment banking leader across Canada and the overall top-ranked franchise in Quebec. It offers a full suite of financial solutions, from debt and equity underwriting to bank credit and risk management products. An established player in the Canadian markets, NBF is committed to adding high calibre resources to its Corporate and Investment Banking (“CIB”) group. This group currently consists of approximately 170 professionals located across offices in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver. Operating within the CIB group, the Loan Structuring & Syndication group has demonstrated considerable momentum over the last few years, experiencing record profits and strong growth in deal flow.


Primary Job Responsibilities

As an Analyst, the successful candidate will actively participate in a wide variety of syndicated loan transactions headed by senior and intermediate members of the group. The Analyst will evolve in a team of 11 individuals covering mid- and large-size corporate clients across Canada and have the opportunity to collaborate with other NBF groups and learn about a broad range of capital market products. The Analyst position involves the preparation of syndicated lending materials to be presented to existing and potential clients with an emphasis on financial analysis, written presentations 

Qualifications:

The Analyst position within the Loan Structuring & Syndication group will appeal to highly motivated individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in an entrepreneurial and high-energy environment. We are seeking candidates that demonstrate the following:
  • Relevant undergraduate degree (B.Comm./B.B.A.). 
  • Professional designation is an asset (e.g. CFA/CA).
  • Excellent numerical and analytical abilities
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills (fluent in both French and English considered an asset)
  • Outstanding records of academic performance
  • Well-developed computer skills
  • Keen and demonstrated interest in financial markets and finance
Qualities for the position also include attention to detail, thoroughness and the ability to present concise and well-structured information or analyses. Applicants are expected to be willing to work extra hours as the position sometimes requires a quick turnaround in response to client needs.
