A career at national bank's Trade finance Expertise Desk means providing accessible, simple international trade advisory services tailored to the needs of clients and various partners.

Your main challenges 

  • Interact with clients and the various Bank sectors to offer support and specialized advice
  • Identify and assess the needs of stakeholders, and propose adapted solutions to support the completion of activities
  • Carry out analyses and research to provide the information required for transactions to go smoothly
  • Guide stakeholders and share your expertise by sitting on committees or participating in special or major projects

More specifically, you will:

  • Handle transactions related to letters of guarantee, standby letters of credit, and possibly any other trade products
  • Suggest and structure innovative solutions by leveraging your product expertise and knowledge of international trade
  • Adopt a holistic approach to identify client needs, by ccommunicating with clients, internal partners, or correspondent banks, to find solutions regarding incoming or outgoing letters of guarantee and standby letters of credit
  • Draft and review wording of letters of guarantee and standby letters of credit to ensure they meet the client’s needs as well protect the bank against risks
  • Process and index trade instruments in the bank’s systems in accordance with the Bank’s internal procedures
  • Exercise thorough analytical skills to prevent international trade transactions that contravene internal or external regulations aimed at preventing anti-money laundering, terrorism financing or other prohibited activities
  • Optimize communications with the sales force through referrals to maximize business opportunities
  • Help optimize processes to provide a distinctive client experience and ensure thorough risk management

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree related to the industry and five years of relevant experience OR Master's degree related to the business sector and three years of relevant experience
  • Holder of the CDCS or CSDG designation
  • Experience in an advisory role in the field of international trade, desirable
  • Excellent knowledge of RUU 600 Brochures. PBIS, RPIS 98, RUE 522, RUGD 758
  • Good writing skills
  • Customer service experience and good interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to work in a team and collaborate
  • Strong ability to focus on a project while meeting deadlines
  • Bilingualism (spoken/written) French and English because the candidate will have to deal with the international market
