Working from our office in the South shore of Montreal (for the first year in position), you will support the investment advisors of the greater Montreal area (thereafter). You are part of a Centre of Expertise team and, like your colleagues, you provide top-notch service to branch advisors!

In this specific role, you will provide specialized advice for wealthy clients of investment advisers who require your support for comprehensive financial, tax and estate planning. 

You will report to the sector’s Regional Vice-President, Wealth Management Solutions.  You will interact as an expert partner throughout the distribution networks of National Bank Financial and National Bank branches by advising clients on estate planning strategies that meet their family and financial needs. In conjunction with your various regional business partners, you will work on raising investment advisors’ awareness of the added value offered by your field of activity.  You will contribute to the growth of business volume by implementing sound business development strategies in your region. 

To summarize, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Interact as a trusted partner with investment advisors in your region. 
  • Act as a high-level expert advisor with clients for estate planning, carry out interviews with clients and establish a relationship of trust with them.
  • As a leader in your field of expertise, maintain a high level of internal and external visibility and create solid networks.
  • Provide professional assistance and dispense training on estate planning to investment advisors.
  • Solve problems and encourage the various parties to work together, become involved and take concrete measures to do so.
  • Identify and develop business opportunities for all products and services offered by National Bank Financial.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with the parties involved in the sector's activities, specifically the other experts and specialists in your region, by motivating others to achieve common goals.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in your sector of activity, in order to determine the directions to follow in order to ensure the evolution of processes, systems and work methods. 

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in law and ten years’ relevant experience or completed Master’s degree in a related field and eight years’ relevant experience
  • Member of the Barreau du Québec or the Chambre des notaires du Québec
  • Master’s degree in taxation, an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of estate planning concepts
  • Expertise in estate law, trusts and administration of the property of third parties, an asset
  • Significant experience in a role as an expert advisor
  • Experience working in a trust company or a portfolio management firm, an asset
  • Knowledge of various insurance products, an asset
  • Experience in business development and managing business relationships
  • Ability to build solid professional relationships (internally and externally)
  • Ability to quickly raise interest and build trust
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex estate planning concepts
  • Able to adapt to change and work in an environment with several stakeholders
  • Good listening skills needed in order to fully understand clients’ sensitive issues
  • Bilingualism, both spoken and written (English and French), an asset
